Mindless Photos from the Mindless

I feel like I should already be at home, sleeping my mornings away and napping my afternoons away. But I’m still here, trying to keep my eyes open as I research on cancer pain management and dread the next two days’ classes. Because all I really want to do now is to stop and think of what I really want to do, and not to just force myself into what I’m supposed to be doing. But I guess a need’s a need. And a want is just a want.

I really want to sleep now. And thank goodness it’s also a need.

After these few photos from the random shoot the other day I shall retire to my bed.

2010 Merdeka Celebration at Haji Lane, Chez Papa & Ali Cafe

It’s been a while since I last flooded my blog with photos so I guess it’s time to do so now! Last weekend seemed so long (because it lasted for 4 days!) and I blame it for catapulting me into a full-blown holiday mood :( I did have tons of fun though.

On Merdeka Day (last Tuesday), I decided to go to Singapore anyway although I couldn’t find anyone to go with. Somehow I managed to wake up at 9 am and by 11 am I was drive-thru-ing Burger King to grab something to eat on the way to the Causeway. Spent 1.5 hours on the Causeway itself and finally made it to Haji Lane at about 1.30 pm. It was surprisingly quite easy to find considering the number of times I’ve gotten lost while driving in (and into) Singapore (it’s not that small okay?). Haji Lane is kinda like Bangar, only more unassuming, tainted and awesome! It’s a rather tiny lane filled with cutesy little individual boutiques and just exudes a lot of quirky charm. I love it!

Unfortunately, most of the boutiques sell apparels for the female sex and only a handful of them have stuff for the guys. But that won’t stop me from going back! I think they MIGHT have a higher stock turnover rate compared to Bugis Street (which is only kind of worth visiting once in 6 months or so). And the clothes aren’t too expensive either.

A deceiving display because there weren’t guy clothes instore.

I think there’s just something very appealing about old-looking, almost rundown stores selling clothing. If you’re not a stair climber/al fresco shopper I wouldn’t recommend this place for you though. The weather can be a bit daunting and I was stupid that day to wear 2 layers of clothing under the hot sun.

Anyway, after less than 2 hours of scouring the stores I decided that I’d bought enough (1 jacket only. But I really like it) and that the scorching sun was too painful to endure. Got really lost on the way back (because I decided to be adventurous) but finally made it back at 4 pm!

Later that night we decided to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate Malaysia’s 53rd birthday. So Evonnebabe, Hans, Jo, Anver and I ended up at Chez Papa which is a French rezzo because well, I couldn’t think of any Malaysian food selling restaurant around that sells good food and feels celebratory at the same time.

I’ve been wanting to try out Chez Papa for the longest time because I’ve heard many good things about this restaurant which looks like it’s forever closed. I must say it lives up to expectation in terms of food quality but I think the portion was a little disproportionate to the pricing. Perhaps they had to import their ingredients from somewhere, I don’t know. Not a place to go on a regular basis or when you’re really hunger, but I guess it’s worth the splurge once in a while.

Random Sunday Updates

Went to Malacca yesterday with Hans, Jo and Evonnebabe and had a hell of a good time. Haven’t tired my muscles so much in a while (although that isn’t saying much) and haven’t felt so good in a while either. Oh! And I haven’t spent so much in a while either. Now that’s saying something.

Went to watch Step Up 3 today and I must say I didn’t really like the show. The main actor is such a poser! He didn’t even have a proper dance routine that lasted more than 2 minutes of screen time.. He was obviously just the lead because of his looks.

Anyway, I really liked ONE song they played in the movie. Came back and tried YouTube-ing for the soundtrack but I couldn’t find it even after searching for almost every likely song on the list. Turns out it’s an unreleased song by this upcoming singer called Jessica Cornish :)

OMG SHE HAS AMAZING VOCALS! When I hear her sing I can hear the Grammy’s buzzing. Can’t wait til she drops her debut album. I’ll be first in line (of millions, hopefully) to get it :)

Okay, it’s so random to post photos of myself after that awesome video but my blog has been rather dull lately so please bear with me for the 837849734th time thank you.
