Mindless Photos from the Mindless

I feel like I should already be at home, sleeping my mornings away and napping my afternoons away. But I’m still here, trying to keep my eyes open as I research on cancer pain management and dread the next two days’ classes. Because all I really want to do now is to stop and think of what I really want to do, and not to just force myself into what I’m supposed to be doing. But I guess a need’s a need. And a want is just a want.

I really want to sleep now. And thank goodness it’s also a need.

After these few photos from the random shoot the other day I shall retire to my bed.

Of Swollen Eyes and Feet

While waiting for my inbox to turn from 76 to 77, hopefully with an indication that I’ll no longer be homeless in Sydney, I shall entertain you with some photos from Singapore :)

Before that, if by any chance you know anyone in Sydney who is able to provide me with a bed, bathroom, 4 walls and a ceiling, or if you happen to be that person him/herself, please let me know! Thanks!

Anyway, I think the stars must have lined themselves in my world when the first day of the Great Singapore Sale turned to be on a public holiday! Or maybe Singapore just wanted more people to flood their country for the sale, hence the date for the first day of sales (have you noticed that the currency exchange rate is slowly rising again??? Booo). And it started a whole 2 weeks before my finals some more! How perfect is that? (No, seriously, the timing is perfect)

So on the first day of sales I prowled the streets of Bugis and Orchard with Pat, Yin Qian and E Qian. It was such a weird combination because we don’t usually hang out with each other (except for Pat Pat) but it turned out to be pretty fun!

By the end of the day it was quite clear that everyone had different priorities in crossing the border. Yin Qian’s was quite obviously food :P ; E-Qian’s was to just walk around (seriously she didn’t buy a single thing!); Pat’s was to check out his own reflection whenever there was a mirror (and to check out other guys when there wasn’t any); and mine was to shop until everyone dropped! Which they almost did by the end of the day.

After a much drama-filled journey to Singapore we finally got to Bugis, where we had lunch at this casual eatery place (for lack of a better term) called Empire State in Iluma (which was built on a budget of 100 million (wth) according to Wikipedia). I wasn’t expecting the food to be great because the whole place looked very commercialised but I was very pleasantly surprised when our food came :)

I ate there twice more in the next 2 weeks :P

The Photogenic E-Qian (this is according to a very annoying camera store owner who kept forcing me to buy rechargeable batteries from him)

P5285180

My food! I ordered pork ribs with mashed potatoes (which would be more enjoyable if it didn’t taste as piggish wth)

P5285182

Yin Qian ordered the same thing, but with fries. I’m still trying to find that salad dressing they used! It’s like a tangy-olive-oily thingy.

P5285181

E-Qian with a very happy Pat who just found the perfect place for him!

P5285172

Really big potato salad that looked nothing like Patrik’s imfamous one (thank goodness)

P5285176

Yin Qian looking very pleased with his dish

P5285185

Oh! The dessert was very good. The brownie and ice cream were served on a hot plate! How creative!

After lunch we walked around Bugis and by the time it was time to hit Orchard Road it was already past 6! Didn’t do much shopping at Orchard because everyone (else) was so tired but we had a pretty good dinner at TCC (some coffee connoisseur place) which had a buy 1 get 2 free deal. So dinner was relatively cheaper :)

P5285209

Someone’s very nice looking chicken. Which I don’t think I tried so I can’t remember what it’s called or how it tastes like.

P5285202

E-Qian’s pasta with salmon which she said taste like Maggi because of the egg :P

Loving housemates who insult each other at every chance :) Awww

My eyes were already red and painful by that time (stupid contacts)

P5285192

My Nougat drink which was a bit too diluted :(

P5285189

Yin Qian and his coffee drink which had some liquor which he enjoyed very much

P5285208

My pretty awesome beef stew

OMG I LOOK SO CREEPY HERE

P5285198

Yin Qian’s pasta, which also had salmon I THINK (omg I suck at blogging about food) (actually not really, just food that aren’t impressive enough *cough cough*)

After dinner I still wanted to shop (WHAT! I’VE BEEN SAVING ALL MY MONEY AND ENERGY FOR THIS FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH OKAY) but everyone was too tired and the shops were closing so we headed home.

Okay last photo because I want to show you my awesome harem pants which I love but they make my legs look short :(

Time Bomb

On average, I arrive at this page every 5 minutes, thinking that I should be posting some updates to entertain those with lives sadder than mine (probably 0.000000000000000000012% of the human population). Without fail, the thought that I should be doing something more productive pops up the very next second. In the end, I waste my time loading the page 98354039285 times every night before redirecting it to Google.

Dermatology posting is really fun in the sense that we get to sit in an air conditioned room for most parts of it. And our tutor is pretty awesome too. The only negative would be that it makes me feel like a complete idiot and I never knew I’d be able to feel any stupider than I already did before the week even started. To make things even worse, my tutor loves to remind me to always be prepared because she’s taking me for my MCR and that it can happen any time during the week. It’s definitely going to happen this week but I AM SO NOT PREPARED FOR IT YET!!!!!!!!!!

My weekend has been, again, unfruitful academically although I hope I’d done some good by waking up before 7 on both days to do some volunteer work. Somehow my weekends always end with me begging for more. But right now, I think it’s best for me to make the most out of the few hours that remain. There’s been lots of downs this weekend and I wish to vent my disappointment but I am losing the battle with time to do so.

I’ve been uploading so little photos these few months that I don’t even have to worry about resizing my photos! I shall leave now with a few random photos to remind me of the going-ons that I should be blogging about that I have not.

The Malacca Trip

Fuh I finally have some time to sit down, breathe and blog! I would’ve had time to visit Singapore/Malacca (again)/KL yesterday since it was a public holiday but noooooooooo plans were ruined by Dr Yap again! For the second time in a row FML. But it’s okaylah, he’s really nice so.. yeah. At least I got to hear a ronchi (yes, trying very hard to soothe my broken heart wth).

Anyway, I shall post more photos from Melaka! Would’ve taken much more if only I’d brought a camera savvy person with me. Too bad only Dan was willing to go :( Note to self: Travel to Melaka with a super pro photographer next time! But don’t worry Dan, I’ll still bring you next time! I mean, if you haven’t already developed a phobia for my awesome driving skills.

Nah, now I shall post a pretty nice photo of you, Dan :P

dan

I even made the effort to retouch it wth.

I guess the main reason of driving all the way up to Melaka this time was to errr… eat. Unfortunately, we didn’t do much of that. The only thing we had were the chicken rice balls which EVERYONE has been raving about. We had trouble looking for the right place to eat because every single shop seemed to claim that theirs was the most popular/authentic/awesome/not a hoax.

We ended up eating  at some shop called Hoe Kee or something because there was quite a long queue outside wth.

rice balls

The ever so famous chicken rice balls!

chicken

The chicken breast which I actually liked.

To be completely honest, I am not the biggest fan of chicken rice (or a fan at all) and I hate clumpy rice. So I don’t know what I was thinking when I wanted to have chicken rice balls =.= But surprisingly I really liked it! Not enough for me to endure a 3-hour journey of driving and queuing up, that is.

I know Melaka is a tourist attraction spot and only tourists are supposed to shop there but…….. I was kind of a tourist too! I mean, it was my first time there. Which was why I ended up buying tons of junk. My wallet was pretty dry by the end of noon :(

shop

They had loads of shops selling really cute useless items wth. And I’m a sucker for cute useless items wth. They were probably overpriced but I thought they were still rather cheap. I mean, I got super duper cute paper clips for RM 3 per pack.. with about 6 in a pack. I’d take photos of everything I bought but that would just remind me of the unnecessary spending that I still feel rather guilty about o.O Maybe next time :D

Oh! And I’m totally into this shop called Orang Utan. I’ve read about it before in MAS’ inflight mag Going Places (which is like my ultimate favourite magazine. Broke my heart when I couldn’t get my hands on them even though I was on 2 MAS flights in a single day a week ago T_T) so when I saw it I was like.. HEY THIS LOOKS SO FAMILIAR!

orang utan2

The t-shirts designs aren’t very mainstream, which I guess is why I like them :P You can google Charles Cham to find out more about the artist behind the designs :D I bought 2 t-shirts… which were way too big for me =.= The shopkeeper kept telling me that since I was tall I should get that certain size and that the shirts would shrink by 5% when washed wth. They better shrink by 20% I tell you.

Or I can just sport the whole hip hop look.

By the way, the t-shirts only go for RM30 each which is pretty cheap for a rather commercialised franchise if you ask me.

I bought 2 more shirts that day, which I thought looked very cultural, and I am currently obsessed with cultural clothing now wth. I got myself another samfoo!

purchase

This is my 4th one bought during the CNY season o.O Actually, I was wearing one on that day itself. I am so obsessed with samfoos it’s not funny anymore. But I think they look really good :D I still don’t have a red one though. What are the odds of that right?

beca

Random ugly rickshaw wth

some rest

Random photo I took before brunch.

Anyhowwwwww, we also went to the Stadhuys Square/Christ Church, which I thought was too… polished. I mean, it’s nice that they bother preserving the buildings and all but the paint looked too… new. I think it lowers entire aesthetic value of the place.

church

I’d very much rather see it looking something like this:

ruins

But that’s just me I guess.

My slave for the day :P

Remotely good photo of myself. I had to crop and rotate the photo to make it look like this. Trust me, the original photo is baddddddddddddddd.

me3

This is unrelated to anything but I really liked my outfit that day wth. Again, this photo has been edited to the core because the raw photo was just too...

Okay that’s all!

Oh when we got back to Johor I still went to visit Tim then have dinner at Danga Bay I am like Superman. Have I told you I drove a total of 450 km that one day?

Day Trip to Singapore!

Hi guys! Since there’s nothing better for me to do with the free wifi here at KLIA, I’ve decided to blog. So woohoo for you guys! :P

By the way, the free wifi here is only valid for 2 hours wth damn stingy can.

Anyway, I’m going to blog about my trip to Singapore a few weeks ago. Grace and I initially planned to go down on Friday but the plan was made unsuccessful when I received a text from Jian Yuan at 7 in the morning telling us there would be bedside teaching that afternoon =.=

But we managed to go on Saturday so yay us!

The whole point of going to Singapore was for the Body Worlds Exhibition because us being the ever so nerdy medical students just can’t get enough of plastinated models of the human body. Uh huh. I don’t have photos from the exhibition though because we weren’t allowed to take any photos inside the expo which is such a shame because they had some pretty awesome plastinated models if you ask me. And they had horses and giraffes too which was totally random but very artsy nonetheless. There was a very artistic display of the many many cross-sections of a giraffe shaped like a giraffe! But other than that everything else pretty much looked like what we had in our Anatomy lab in SUNWAY (I miss not having to have tutorials in CONTAINERS).

We had a tour around the Science Centre too since we only needed to add $1 for the package. I think it was a bit too geeky for me :P

You see things like:

LOOK AT THE REFLECTION OF THIS PHOTO AND YOU’LL SEE SOMEONE’S FACE!

PRESS THE GREEN BUTTON AND THIS THING WILL SPIN AND SPIN AND SPIN wth

Niyi and her megawatt smile. *cough cough*

After that we were supposed to meet up with Jun Yet and Evonnebabe to do a bit of shopping at Bugis but due to some miscommunication, they’d gone back to JB by the time we got to Bugis wth. Oh well, Grace and I did a bit of last minute shopping. I mean, Grace did most of the shopping :P Serious. I only bought a jacket (which I’m wearing as I’m typing this) and a bag. Almost everything looked the same like the last time I went (which was last June!). And the price was the same too =.= Still didn’t buy the I M Fat shirt I wanted to because I is too stingy to pay $10 for a t-shirt like that wth.

We got a bit too carried away and ended up shopping til about 10 so we decided to take a cab back instead of the bus, which is a lot more expensive but wayyyyyyy more convenient.

That concludes my trip to Singapore.

Now I shall post a random photo of Grace in the MRT because she likes seeing her photos on my blog wth (not that she reads my blog anyway)

P2062980 (Large)

We were damn considerate to not sit on the reserved seats okay! But no one else was =.= But there wasn’t anyone who needed the seats la so I guess that’s okay.

Since this post lacks my awesome face I shall post a random photo that almost made it as my Facebook profile picture.
