Hi people I watched Malaysian Dreamgirl and I now know who the Top 3 contestants are!! I’m soooooo in the ‘IT’ group yo! wth
As I am typing this, I am waiting for Episode 16 Part 3 to load. I’ve watched all the other 4 parts but something’s wrong with Part 3!!! Damn potong steam la! I was happily anticipating the photoshoot part but then it had to stop halfway. Haiz.. now I’m loading it for the 4th time. So I haven’t watched the full photoshoot yet and hence, whatever I’m going to say about the final photos is totally unbiased!
THE TOP 3:
#1 Cindy

Ok Just because I mentioned her first doesn’t mean she’s my favourite. I’m not entirely sure if Cindy’s photogenic enough to be a top model. I don’t think any of her photos are THAT strong except for her White Summer set of photos where she smiled like there’s no tomorrow and made me feel as though tomorrow doesn’t even matter that much anymore wth

With a smile like that, I think Cindy can conquer the commercial type of modeling but I think top models should have an edge to them that can make them shine in the high fashion industry where a single thread costs 50 bucks wth. And sadly, Cindy doesn’t really possess that edginess.
Nonetheless, I do think Cindy has a lot of potential to be a mainstream entertainer. She doesn’t look her best in still frames but she’s actually quite pretty (with the correct lighting) in the Malaysian Dreamgirl videos. I think she can really go a long way if she decided to pursue acting. The latest episode showcased her talent in the acting field quite well but I think every now and then that ‘accent’ comes back and it may turn some people off. But seriously, what’s with all the bashes saying she has a ‘fake’ accent?? Can you define a ‘real’ accent for me please and thank you? Unfortunately, since she has been labeled as the ‘bitch’ in the house earlier on, she might need to work hard to be the protagonist instead of the antagonist in a show.

Omg her expression here damn scary and the player had to stop there!
Personally, I don’t know if Cindy is actually smart (because it’s such a subjective measurement) but I do really feel that she’s wise. In episode 16, she SAID that she wanted to win the show for the exposure and I think that is very, very wise of her. Seriously damn wise okay?
Winning the Nissan Latio and all those vouchers is great and all but they won’t be long lasting. The winner might spend all her vouchers and cash prizes buying overpriced stuff in a jiffy and end up with nothing but a whole lot more junk and *poof* end of career. So for her to want to get more exposure from the show is like a really ideal thing to do.
But again, I emphasized that she “SAID” that she wanted the exposure because I’m pretty sure exposure’s not the only thing she wants la. Duh. Everyone also wants a new car and free shopping vouchers la. She might be saying it just to make people like me think that she’s wise. Tsk tsk tsk. Cunning. (hahaha wth damn two-faced la first say she’s wise later say she’s cunning)

Her latest photo isn’t exactly pretty, but it looks classy and regal. I think it’s one of her best non-smiling shots because even though she wasn’t looking right into a camera, I do feel some intensity in the face. (OMG I talk like Tyra Banks wth)
Sigh. I’m damn long-winded la. Talk about one contestant only already take so damn long. Ok next!
#2 Hanis

This photo is hands down the best of the bunch! Just like in her Couture Batik shot, she has outshined everyone!! Her face looks somewhat disproportionately large, but still gorgeous nonetheless. When I saw the photo of the Top 3 at the Malaysian Dreamgirl homepage, my eyes went straight to her! I think the photo is one that would make me stop and stare for a while when flipping through a magazine.
Even before watching the show, I had fancied Hanis just from looking at the Malaysian Dreamgirl Gallery. From her earlier photos, I felt that she had a lot of potential, her photos were only very ‘safe’ and not totally outstandingly good or bad, but her photos were good. But again, ‘just good’ isn’t enough.
But as the show progressed, I felt her hardwork had paid off and I truly see that her potential is developing into visible talent.

Sad to say, her White Summer photos were not exactly great but unlike everyone else in the whole wide world, I thought her Wella Inspiration shot was pretty intense.

The intensity is sooo there!! For me, she looked ‘fierce’ instead of ‘I’m so mad at you I’m gonna bite off your head, sucker!’ but the overly done make up (especially the eyebrows) kind of spoiled the photo as a whole.
Nonetheless, she wasn’t eliminated after that shoot and has then continued to prove that she’s a very, very, very strong competitor in the competition. Her sweet looks and personality proved to appeal to the public, thus causing the influx of her votes in the competition I’m guessing. Well, not only the public likes her, fashion designers seem to fancy her a lot too. In MIFA (is it MIFA?) she appeared like 4 or 5 times on the catwalk? That says a lot you know? If you want to stay in the modeling world, you need to be able to book many many many jobs (macamla I know sangat
, but it’s common sense la haiyo) and Hanis has proven that she fits the taste of more than just 1 designer.

This is easily the best photo that week and maybe the entire competition. I love the effects added to the photo and I think she looked gorgeous from head to toe. Unlike the other girls’ photos that week, she had more constricted movements but she looked long, poised and elegant. I was definitely blown away by this photo! Totally rocks my socks!!
Personally, I think Hanis should win and I think she will eventually win the competition unless everyone d
ecides that since she’s going to win anyway, might as well not vote for her and then maybe someone else will win la.
I don’t doubt Hanis will go a very long way in the entertainment industry, whether it be in modeling, hosting or acting, but the thing that I’m worried about is that the Manis Hanis (damn gross la why you guys address her as such?!) that we have all grown to love so much might be polluted by the darker side of the entertainment world. We don’t want her to be the next Britney Spears, do we?
#3 Adeline

ADELINE IS KILLING ME WITH THIS ANGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That angle didn’t work here:

It worked a little better here because of the brightness of it all:

AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE IT DIDN’T WORK HERE EITHER:

I think we should all sign a petition to remove that Wella shot of hers so that her portfolio wouldn’t be completely ruined by it. Sigh. Was that really her best shot???!!
The biggest problem with Adeline is that she has the goods but she’s not bringing it to the table!! (wah I watch too much ANTM. sound like another Tyra Banks.. “but only ONE will be AMERICA’S next TOP MODEL” wth) She appears to have flawless fair skin, a great smile and quirky eyes. In the videos, she does look pretty and presentable most of the time but her beauty seriously doesn’t translate into her photos. I seriously don’t know why in almost all her photos, it’s always chin down, face straight on and eyes staring almost upwards. It’s her worst angle ever, OKAY???!!!!

Her best shoot was definitely the White Summer shoot. I think her photos are on par, if not better, in comparison with Cindy’s. Her smile looks natural and effortless and that’s the look I think she’s suited to.
Apparently, she won the acting challenge in Episode 16. Although I personally didn’t understand how and why, I think they might have seen that ‘X-Factor’ in her and if they saw it, then other people might see it as well.

But haiz, this photo is really not good la. The light only reached half her face and made her look like she had been punched by some guy with a seriously big, strong fist! It’s definitely not good enough for her to win the competition.
I don’t think Adeline deserves to win because at this point, she hasn’t shown that she is able to blow minds and show her full potential in most of her photos. Her fluency (or lack of) in English is sadly also going to make it more difficult for her to break into the market where almost everyone is not only pretty, but extremely articulate as well.
No doubt she has a lot of potential to be a famous celebrity, but right now, she still isn’t as versatile as Hanis or as ‘memorable’ as Cindy.
By the way, I noticed that Hanis’ and Adeline’s poses look very similar and created this very annoying .gif animation hehehe:

Can see the resemblance or not?
Girls That I Think Should Have Stayed Longer In The Competition:
Fiqa was my favourite (alongside Hanis, in fact, I liked her more) before I even watched the show itself. I love her look! She looks totally unique, like the type that make you go “Hmmm.. I think she’s Chinese, but then again she doesn’t look totally Chinese-y”. I think she was one of the most eye-catching contestants and really thought she would win but sigh, no point talking too much about evaporated water wth. But I’m sure she’s going to condensate back into water wth.

I really thought Jay would at least make it to the Top 3 but she didn’t. To me, Jay is the type of person who would turn heads everytime she walks past anyone. She’s tall and slender, and she has unconventional features. She looks like the type of who would make me go “Wow she should be a model” and I’m sure she will eventually.
Even if they didn’t win the competition, I’m sure they’ll be very successful in the modeling world since the show has helped expose them to the industry. Modeling agencies would be stupid if they didn’t sign them.
Some problems With The Malaysian Dreamgirl Show I Wish To Address:
1. To me, the editing is really weird. One second, the girls were in a studio exercising and doing some choreographic dance moves, the next, some girl’s on the phone gossiping about other people. I was hoping to see a more smooth storyline at least. A more obvious chronological order of events would be better in my opinion.
2. The host Sazzy Falak is as dry as eating potato crisps when you’re having a sore throat. Her comments are so brief, they sound so repetitive and almost half-hearted. It sounded like she just wanted to skip the whole thing and just tell them who got eliminated already! Maybe it’s cuz she doesn’t like standing while judging so that’s why she tries to rush everything. Someone get her a chair please!!
3. Why does Jimmy Lim always have wind in his hair??!!
I think that’s about what I can talk about la. Need to do some research of malignant melanoma (whatever it is) now.
((((((((((
Random: I was so disappointed that Adeline’s face looked so dark and decided to invert that photo. And turns out, it looks better like this!

The two photos look better as they are though:
