Test Shots With My Olympus PEN

This is not an ad.

So I’ve wanted an Olympus Pen since…. forever.

Actually not really.. more like half a year ago, which is long enough if you ask me!

To be completely honest, it wasn’t love at first sight at all. When I first saw it in the news I wasn’t very impressed because I thought it looked a bit peculiar. But I’ve grown to love it It looks nothing like the other dSLRs on the market (well, technically it isn’t an SLR) and I think since it looks so classic it’ll probably be in trend for a very long time (although this is the least of my concerns).

I’ve always wanted an SLR cuz they take such gorgeous shots and I love taking gorgeous shots (duh). But normal dSLRs are so damn humongous they would be such a hassle to carry around. And mobility is very important for me! I figured even if I’d gotten a damn good SLR I probably wouldn’t be taking that many photos since I’d be too lazy to whip them out or to bring them out in the first place. So for that reason, I had my eyes set on Olympus PEN E-P1 Panasonic has a similar model too but I’m biased towards Olympus Actually they just launched a new model for PEN but it’s a good 1K more expensive… so nyeh.

But now I realise that it isn’t that much lighter cuz of the metal finishing I presume. I still love it to bits regardless

It was damn hard to find it in Miri la! Couldn’t find it at Bintang Megamall and Imperial Mall so I was damn sad because I was scared that my parents would change their mind about finally getting it for me Stupid SenQ advertised it in their catalogue with the whole member’s rebate + some RM200 voucher but the salesguy didn’t even know what Olympus Pen was =.= He offered to show me other dSLRs and I totally wanted to yell at him. I’VE WAITED FOR 6 MONTHS FOR THIS ONE I’M NOT GONNA BUY SOME RANDOM CAMERA YOU’RE GONNA INTRODUCE TO ME IN 3 MINUTES! Even if it was better! Gosh I can be so dense sometimes.

Thank goodness I finally found it in Boulevard! There’s a shop downstairs that sells it but they didn’t have stock at that time and I was going to place an order before I decided to look upstairs.

And lo and behold, I found it!

I was so damn excited I almost squealed. Which would’ve been pretty embarrassing.

But yeah, I was damn happy la

Oh but I don’t really know how to use it wth. I think I’ve figured out a few functions these 2 days but I still have a long way to go la before I can consider myself to have good skills

#1 Sister’s table.

Using the pinhole function. I’ve seen quite a number of people use this feature but I don’t think I’ll use it all the time la.. not really a big fan and it takes some time to process also.

#2 Where ze shirts are made.

This is the sewing machine I use to make my own shirts Speaking of making shirts, I should probably get started on my next one. I was super motivated to make my own shirts while I was Christmas shopping in KL because I couldn’t find shirts that I really liked without having to pay a bomb but now that I’m back home, I’m all lazy again.

#3 The favourite accessory.

They gave me a free tripod (and a screen protector, camera bag and memory card)! I’ve always wanted a tripod la why hasn’t anyone figured this out huh? Now I can master the art of self-portraits! I’ll start tomorrow!

Okay lah actually I’ve actually started wth.

#4 I’m possible.

Oh I read on some random poster back at the Sunway Condo which mentioned that Audrey Hepburn said that there is nothing in this world that is impossible because the word itself says “I’m possible”, which inspired me quite a bit. Especially when it was during the last few days of the study break.

But thinking back, does it mean there is nothing that’s immobile, immoral, immortal etc etc? o.O

#5 Oiling the rust.

Haven’t taken jumpshots in a while really! It’s been months! I figured since I have a new camera now I should get accustomed to taking jumpshots using it. I used to be super pro at jumping for the camera because I’m super familiar with the timing of the old camera. I need to start working on my timing again now. This was the only successful one of the many many many attempts! How can?! I was in the air in a few other shots but they were all blurry

#6 Colourful mess.

I’m only posting this photo because it has the most number of colours

Note to self: Start unpacking properly!

#7 Overexposure.

This was the only photo that I really liked which was taken on the first day. But it’s not the best of quality But I still love it la hehehe

#8 Ugly doorknob.

I was so pissed that I couldn’t get the photos to have that blurred-background effect that distinguish SLRs from compact cameras so I changed this and that and finally got this photo. Not great, but it’s a good start

#9 Tick Tock.

My favourite (and only) watch which is peeling at the strap It’s followed me for almost 3 years now! Every kid that I’ve talked has gotten so distracted by the animated seconds. And so has most of the patients I’ve interviewed.

#10 Birdie.

Took this with the Macro function. Cheh say earlier mah. Make me change this change that manually.

#12 Bleach please.

I think I’m not much of a still object photographer. I don’t think I’m a fan of taking photos of non-living things so I’ll probably venture more into taking portraits of humans Until I find a muse I’m probably gonna be my own muse la hahahaha wth

So, does anyone wanna be my muse?
