Valituskuoro: Complaints Choirs of the World

As usual, I was browsing through YouTube and today I found something totally epic!

The Complaints Choirs of the World project officially started in Birmingham (although the idea came from two Finnish people) after it caught the attention of some people in Springhill Institute in Birmingham (which some regard as the arsehole of England?? wth). Basically, the idea was to compile a number of random complaints into a song that is rhythmically catchy and easy to sing. WHAT GENIUSITY!

Anyway, the first video I stumbled upon was one done in TOKYO! Yes, the project has spread its wings far and wide. There have been choirs in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Korea, Melbourne and even Singapore! Not that I’m surprised that Singapore is the only Southeast Asian country that has been involved.

The Complaints Choir in Tokyo sang it in Japanese but the video has English translations.

Favourite complaints from the song:

“My wallet is full of discount cards instead of cash.”

“My grandmother thinks she’s American.”

“Politicians should not go to clubs using our tax.”

“I get presents and there’s always shrimp in it.”

HAHAHAHA WTH. The lyrics were contributed by different individuals la. That’s why they’re damn random. Which makes them really funny.

Must watch the video okay!!

Actually Singapore’s Complaints Choir is rather magnificient too!

I especially love the rap parts! Although I didn’t know what most of the acronyms meant o.O And there are a lot of really genius moments too la. You HAVE to watch the videos yourself!

Favourite complaints from this choir:

“We don’t recycle any plastic bags but we purify our pee.”

“People put on fake accents to sound posh and queue up 3 hours for donuts.”

“Drivers won’t ‘give chance’ when you want to ‘change lane’.”

“I can’t access playboy.com.”

HAHAHA. DAMN RANDOM.

Bah.

OMG Now I totally wanna start a Complaints Choir in Monash too! Screw all the evaluations!! I can totally imagine their faces if we were to send in a video like that instead of the half-heartedly filled feedback forms. If we ever want to complain, we’re gonna sing it out!

But it’s going to take a lot of effort and I am seriously musically declined, no joke. But I still think I wanna do it!

Okay, that shall be my big extracurricular project this year!

Gonna need a lot of support, guys!

That’s all I guess.

Cya!

XOXO

can i join the choir please please please? i promise i’ll try to sing.
i’ll even start contributing ideas now!

ppl stealing food from the fridge.
    half-eaten baking chocs on cupboards!

Me: haha yes you can be in the choir if it becomes real! the first group of ppl who started it couldn’t sing either but their song was very catchy. so we just need to come up with a very catchy, almost tuneless song. which is the type of songs the radio is playing anyway.
