The birthday girl with her underused camera.
So our snow queen up there turned 21 2 days ago and the bunch of us who have no other friends managed to celebrate it with her despite the UBER late notice that the dinner was going to involve more people than just her and the boyfriend who flew in all the way from Adelaide! Stuffed our faces at a Japanese a la carte buffet in Pelangi area called Hikaage (I think) and I swear there’s a liver fluke somewhere in my biliary tree now from all the sashimi that night, the night before, the afternoon before and the Sunday before. Not that I’m complaining because sashimi is loooove.
The dinner was supposed to start a little after 6.30 but I couldn’t make it home so early so I told Stella that I’ll meet them at the restaurant. Lo and behold when I was about to leave at SEVEN THIRTY (a good hour later than 6.30 in case you couldn’t count), Stella and Jo were still at their apartment. Poor birthday girl had to wait for her VIPs to arrive before ordering. Actually she didn’t have to, just that she did.
The sampat girls and their sake sashimi.
I realise that I didn’t take enough photos of Evonnebabe and Alvin, which I should’ve done considering, you know, he just flew 6 hours to celebrate her birthday! Yes, I have to keep emphasizing this fact because I think it’s utterly sweet
Anyway, it was a night full of black clothing, raw fish, rice with vinegar, hot green tea, scallops on sticks, steamed eggs with shark’s fin, fish roe, wasabi in soy sauce, tempuras of all sorts, soft shell crabs, grilled eels, random noises, not that many photos and no work at all!
I think by the end of the night, it was a 55 well spent
Everyone was sooooooooo full! So full that Stella started denying the things she ordered. But not full enough for ice cream I suppose. Dessert does occupy a different compartment of the stomach, after all.
So, time for photos! I’m out of Flickr bandwidth for the month so the rest of the photos will be up on Facebook soon
Evonnebabe & I with Jun Yet’s pretty sushis.
The girls and their not-too-successful attempt in making the photo a bit more colourful.
It’s almost wrong that she’s so happy to be posing with that soy sauce stained napkin.
The 5 girls who weren’t very original with their poses.
The poser and Jun Yet.
The birthday girl with two unflattering depressions in the otherwise pretty ice.
Group photo before leaving. Geez I look like I have a tummy.
That’s all!
Cya!
